Farmers have long been known for their bush ingenuity – have you invented something that can help other farmers and people living on rural properties make their life easier, simpler, safer, more profitable, or just give them time to have more fun!?

If you have invented, drastically modified or refined farm machinery, equipment and products to make rural living easier, then enter it in this competition and it will be on view at the Small Farms Field Day at the Malanda Showgrounds on 12th November from 9am to 4pm.

You may win the $500 prize,  you may just win the respect, admiration and gratitude of your fellow farmers / innovators. Either way, you win…

In honour of Ian Stewart (photo) who worked tirelessly to assist Tablelands dairy farmers improve their farm practices and lifestyles, Solarworks and Maranos Fuel have donated a $500 prize to be awarded to the best practical rural invention /innovation

Australia’s primary industries have a strong tradition of being innovative and adaptive to new challenges. They have proven to be highly efficient and competitive in international markets. The outlook for the Australian primary industries sector is strong, with the world’s demand for food rising, driven by population growth and calls for higher quality and greater variety of food, and biofuels.

This competition recognises the individual for their ingenuity and contribution to rural innovation.If you have previously entered your innovation in another competition, we expect that it has been significantly modified before you re-enter it here.

You will be required to exhibit your innovation at the Malanda Small Farms Field Day, Malanda Showgrounds on November 12th 2016
